Former President, Mr Goodluck Jonathan has confirmed the theft of his property from his house in Abuja. He confirmed the incident in a statement by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, following some media reports that the home was stripped bare and some of the items stolen were being sold in markets.

“The house, which the former President bought from CITE confirmed the theft of his property from his house in Abuja. He confirmed the incident in a statement by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, following some media reports that the home was stripped bare and some of the items stolen were being sold in markets.

“The house, which the former President bought from CITEC estate developers in 2004, was totally stripped bare by the thieves who stole every movable item in the house including furniture sets, beds, electronics, toilet and electrical fittings, as well as all internal doors and frames.”

While some other media reports stated that over 36 Plasma television sets and 25 refrigerators were moved out of the apartment, the former president denied the claims, stating that the number of items stolen was less than that. According to the statement, however, Mr Jonathan noted that investigations commenced immediately which led to the arrest and detention of some suspects, six of whom were policemen.
